Plans have been submitted for a former B&M site on a North Wales retail park. The discount retailer left Unit G on Flintshire Retail Park last summer for a new larger store on the same park.
The site has been empty since then and now plans have been submitted for the unit. Under the plans the 10,000 sq ft property would be divided up into smaller units.
There would be an 8,000 sq ft larger site and two smaller units of 1,400 sq ft and 600 sq ft. Applicant Hollins Murray Group have also applied for an A3 use for a hot food takeaway at Unit G.
It is understood talks are underway with potential tenants but a source said nothing was yet confirmed. From the applicant drawings Domino’s look like one of the new brands set to move in and the client is MSG Group – a franchise partner with the pizza chain.
The park – whose units are marketed by commercial agent Legat Owen – has expanded in recent years, creating additional jobs at the site. B&M said they had brought an additional 30 roles when they moved to the former Carpet Right and The Outlet stores, which doubled the size of its offering in the town.
Planners at Flintshire council will now consider this application which the retail park owners hopes will help to fill up the currently empty unit.
